Chairman of the Eurasian Group: "The European version of NATO" will end the era of massive funds flowing to the United States.
In recent years, U.S. President Trump has repeatedly criticized NATO harshly. Since the outbreak of the U.S.-Iran conflict, he has made a series of extremely dissatisfied remarks towards NATO allies and threatened to consider withdrawing from NATO. As the U.S.-Iran conflict continues, this threat further undermines allies' confidence in the reliability of the U.S. strategy. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that European allies are accelerating the development of a NATO contingency plan to ensure Europe has autonomous defense capabilities, creating a "European version of NATO." On the 15th local time, Ian Bremmer, Chairman of the Eurasia Group, a U.S. political risk consulting firm, stated in an interview with U.S. media that the "European version of NATO" means that massive investments will no longer flow to the U.S. military-industrial complex.
