One of Australia's only two oil refineries caught fire.
A fire broke out at a refinery located in Geelong, Victoria, Australia on the night of April 15th. The fire is still burning and there have been no reports of casualties. The refinery belongs to Viva Energy Group and is one of only two refineries in Australia, with a daily production capacity to meet 10% of the country's demand for refined oil products. Chris Bowen, Australia's Minister for Climate Change and Energy, stated that the diesel and aviation fuel production areas of the refinery are still operational, while gasoline production has been affected. With the current concerns over oil supply due to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, this fire has further exacerbated public concerns about fuel supply in Australia.
