A shipwreck in eastern Congo has resulted in the deaths of 22 people.
The Ministry of Transport of the Congo announced in a statement on the evening of the 14th that a shipwreck occurred on Lake Tanganyika in the eastern part of the country on the 13th, resulting in 22 deaths. The statement said that the boat in question departed from the village of Kasama in Tanganyika province around 3 am on the 13th, heading to the provincial capital of Kalmie. Around 4 am, the boat capsized in strong winds and was overloaded. The statement did not specify the exact number of people on board the boat.
