Hong Kong signs joint statement with United Nations Industrial Development Organization to promote industrial development.
The Innovation and Technology Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization signed a joint declaration on promoting industrial development, innovation, and digital transformation cooperation in Hong Kong on the 14th, actively promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development. On the same day, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, met with the Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, Li Yong, at the government headquarters to exchange views on strengthening cooperation in industrial development and jointly witnessed the signing of the joint declaration. Son Dong, Director of the Innovation and Technology Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and Zou Ciyong, Deputy Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, signed the joint declaration. The joint declaration aims to establish a cooperation framework to promote industrial innovation, technology transfer, and capacity development through strengthened cooperation, information sharing, and exchange of best practices, including exploring the creation of a global advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence center in Hong Kong. Carrie Lam stated that with the signing of the joint declaration, the SAR government and UNIDO will strengthen cooperation to jointly promote industrial innovation, technology transfer, and other developments, seize opportunities in the new round of technological revolution, accelerate high-quality industrial development and transformation, and further play the roles of Hong Kong as a "super connector" and "super value-added person", attracting domestic and foreign enterprises to settle in Hong Kong and cultivate and strengthen new productive forces.
