The Ministry of Natural Resources announced that the China Geological Survey recently officially released the results of the marine geological survey in the eastern sea areas of China for the first time in nearly 20 years, drawing a detailed "seabed chemical element map", providing accurate data support for related coastal zones and marine spatial planning, ecological environment protection, resource exploration, and other work. Through this systematic survey and research, the scientific research team integrated over 20,000 measured and machine learning data points of surface sediments, forming the most comprehensive, data-rich, and highest-quality geochemical dataset of the eastern sea areas of China to date. This achieved a comprehensive geochemical analysis of sediments from land to sea in the eastern sea areas of China, effectively conducting a full "elemental check-up" of the seabed. Ultimately, the researchers were able to map the locations, contents, and distribution patterns of dozens of chemical elements such as iron, manganese, copper, and rare earth elements, producing the "Geochemical Atlas of Sediments in the Eastern Sea Areas of China" and obtaining the "overall navigation map" for the marine development and protection in the eastern sea areas of China.
