Wu Wei: Shanghai is confident in achieving the expected goal of 5% economic growth in the first quarter and for the whole year.
On April 13th, the State Council Information Office held a press conference in Shanghai, introducing the high-level opening-up of Shanghai and related situations to both domestic and foreign journalists. This is the first stop of the "Five-Year Plan" thematic series of interviews organized by the State Council Information Office. Wu Wei, member of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor, introduced at the meeting that in the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan" period, Shanghai's GDP ranked among the top five in global cities, and its total port trade volume ranked first in the world. This year marks the beginning of the "Five-Year Plan" period, with the expected target for GDP growth in the Shanghai area being around 5%. Regarding economic growth in 2026, he expressed confidence that Shanghai will achieve the expected target of around 5% for both the first quarter and the whole year.
