Hunan Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee former Party Secretary and Vice Director Wulan was seriously disciplined and removed from party membership and public office for violating discipline and laws.
On April 13, the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Supervisory Commission announced that, with the approval of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission investigated the serious violations of discipline and law by Wu Lan, former party secretary and deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress.
Through the investigation, it was found that Wu Lan had lost his ideals and beliefs, betrayed his original aspirations and missions, engaged in political opportunism, and associated with political fraudsters. He violated the Eight-point Regulations of the Central Committee, accepted high-end clothing and medical services from others for free, attended banquets that could affect the impartial execution of official duties, sought benefits for others in the selection and appointment of cadres, and received gifts and cash. He had a corrupt family style, failed to manage and educate his family members, showed no respect for the law, and took advantage of his position to seek profits for others in business operations and project contracting, and illegally accepted huge amounts of money.
Wu Lan seriously violated the party's political discipline, organizational discipline, integrity discipline, and life discipline, constituting serious violations of duties and suspected bribery crimes. He did not restrain himself after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, with serious nature and bad influence, so he should be dealt with seriously. Based on relevant regulations such as the "Disciplinary Regulations of the Communist Party of China," the "Supervision Law of the People's Republic of China," and the "Administrative Penalties for Public Servants of the People's Republic of China," after deliberation and approval by the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and reporting to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, it was decided to expel Wu Lan from the party, dismiss him from public office, terminate his qualification as a delegate to the 12th Party Congress of Hunan Province, confiscate his illicit gains, and transfer his suspected criminal issues to the procuratorate for investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law, along with the transfer of all relevant assets.
