Former member of the Chongqing Municipal Government Party Committee and Vice Mayor Jiang Duntao was expelled from the party and dismissed from public office for serious violations of discipline and laws.

The website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and National Supervisory Commission reported on April 13 that with the approval of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and National Supervisory Commission has initiated an investigation into the serious violations of discipline and law by Jiang Duntao, former member of the Party group and deputy mayor of the Chongqing Municipal Government. According to the investigation, Jiang Duntao has lost his ideals and beliefs, abandoned his original mission, deviated from the correct view of political achievements, violated the requirements of high-quality development, pursued quick success and immediate benefits, failed to fulfill his primary responsibility for comprehensively governing the Party with strict discipline, resisted organizational investigations, engaged in superstitious activities; violated the spirit of the Eight-point Code of Conduct, accepted banquets and travel arrangements that could influence the impartial execution of official duties; violated organizational principles, failed to report personal matters as required, sought personal gains for others and accepted gifts and money in the process of selecting and appointing cadres; breached the bottom line of integrity, accepted gifts and money in violation of regulations, illegally gave gifts and consumption cards, engaged in profit-making activities in violation of regulations, used his position for personal gain, improperly reimbursed expenses that should have been paid by himself with public funds; intervened in and interfered with market economic activities and law enforcement activities; breached disciplinary and legal bottom lines, turning the public power granted by the Party and the people into a tool for personal gain, engaging in power-money transactions, using his position for personal gain in engineering contracting, planning approval, project construction, and other areas, and accepting large illegal gains. Jiang Duntao's serious violations of political discipline, organizational discipline, integrity discipline, work discipline, and life discipline constitute serious violations of law in duty and suspicion of bribery crimes. After the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, he did not restrain himself and did not stop, his actions were serious and had a bad impact, and should be dealt with seriously. In accordance with relevant regulations such as the "Regulations on Party Discipline of the Communist Party of China," the "Supervision Law of the People's Republic of China," and the "Administrative Penalties for Public Servants of the People's Republic of China," upon the deliberation of the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and approved by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, it is decided to expel Jiang Duntao from the party; the National Supervisory Commission will dismiss him from his public office; revoke his qualifications as a delegate to the 20th National Congress of the Party; confiscate his illegally gained assets; and transfer his suspected criminal issues to the procuratorial organs for investigation and prosecution, along with all relevant properties.
