The Japanese government will provide additional support of over 600 billion yen to the semiconductor company Rapidus.

The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, Akira Amari, announced recently that an additional support of 631.5 billion yen has been approved for the Japanese semiconductor company Rapidus for the fiscal year 2026, bringing the total research and development support from 2022 to 2026 to 2.35 trillion yen. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan also announced that it will provide up to 76 billion yen in funding support to Fujitsu and Japan IBM. Both companies are developing energy-efficient AI semiconductor, with manufacturing expected to be outsourced to Rapidus.
