Ship tracking data on the 12th showed that as negotiations between the United States and Iran in Pakistan were nearing their conclusion, two empty oil tankers attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz suddenly turned around for unknown reasons. The US-Iran negotiations lasted from the afternoon of the 11th to the early morning of the 12th in Pakistan time. US Vice President Pence, who participated in the negotiations, stated at a press conference held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on the 12th that after 21 hours of negotiations, no consensus was reached and he would return to the United States without an agreement. Ship tracking data showed that three large oil tankers not directly associated with Iran started approaching the narrow waterway into the Gulf of Oman late on the 11th and turned around after reaching the vicinity of Iran's Larak Island early on the 12th. According to Bloomberg News, the first tanker, managed by Greece's Eastern Mediterranean Shipping Company, was originally bound for Iraq; the second tanker belonged to Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, with the UAE as its destination. The third tanker, the "Mombasa B", is owned by a South Korean company. The tanker followed the route designated by Iran towards the Persian Gulf, passing through Larak Island and Qeshm Island, continuing forward with its destination still unknown.
