According to reports, the Philippine government has requested Facebook's parent company Meta Platforms to take measures to curb the spread of "false and panic-inducing content" on its platform, and warned that if the company does not act promptly, legal action may be taken by the Philippines. The Philippine Presidential Communications Office stated in a statement on Saturday that various harmful content spread on the internet has been identified. On April 10, the government asked the company to respond within seven days and submit a detailed corrective plan. The statement pointed out that the dissemination of such false information violates the country's criminal law and related provisions of the cyber security law, posing a threat to public order, economic stability, and national security.
