Billion-dollar lawsuit imminent: OpenAI accuses Musk of launching a "sneak attack"

OpenAI claims that Elon Musk suddenly changed his demands in the lawsuit against the startup company, launching a "legal ambush" against them just weeks before the trial. In court documents filed late Friday evening Eastern Time, OpenAI stated that Musk's new demands earlier in the week appeared to be aimed at "harassing the defendant, disrupting the trial process, and attempting to reshape his public image in relation to the case." Musk's legal team, in documents submitted this week, stated that if they win the trial, all damages should not go to him personally but should be returned to OpenAI. Additionally, Musk requested the court to reverse OpenAI's commercialization transformation, regulate its future financing and transactions to ensure it stays true to its original mission, and requested the removal of Altman as the CEO and director of OpenAI. OpenAI stated in Friday's filing that these last-minute demands are "improper and lack factual basis." OpenAI's lawyers wrote: "Musk's changed demands would require presenting evidence and witnesses completely different from what he claimed just three days ago."
