The Bank of Canada and major banks and financial institutions in the country held a meeting on Friday to discuss the cybersecurity risks posed by the latest large model from AI company Anthropic PBC. Earlier this week, US policymakers took similar action. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bennet and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell convened an emergency meeting of Wall Street executives to discuss issues related to Anthropic's Mythos model and similar AI models. Executives in attendance included Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser and Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon. The Canadian meeting included members of the Canadian financial industry resilience organization, covering the six major Canadian banks, the federal finance department, financial regulatory agencies, the parent company of the Toronto Stock Exchange, and representatives of other related businesses.
