Zheng Liwen: Willing to do anything that is helpful for the peace between the two sides.
On the afternoon of the 10th, the visiting delegation of the Kuomintang party from mainland China held a press conference in Beijing. The Chairperson of the Kuomintang, Zheng Liwen, said in response that in the future, they must firmly take the path of peace, "I am willing to do anything that is helpful for the peaceful development of the two sides." At the invitation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and General Secretary Xi Jinping, Zheng Liwen and her delegation visited the mainland from April 7th to 12th. During the press conference, Zheng Liwen reviewed the experiences of their visits in Nanjing and Shanghai over the past few days and praised the thoughtful arrangements and reception from the mainland side. She particularly mentioned that after 10 years, leaders of the two parties of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China met again, showing their sincere wishes and goodwill for peaceful development in cross-strait relations. "The escalating tension and evil spiral in cross-strait relations is something that none of us want to see." Zheng Liwen answered questions by stating that since becoming the Chairperson of the Kuomintang, she has felt a strong call from various industries in Taiwan to strengthen cross-strait exchanges and maintain peace in the Taiwan Strait. During this visit to the mainland, it was proven that there are no such thing as "tickets." As long as one adheres to the "1992 Consensus" and opposes "Taiwan independence," they can see each other's smiles and sit down for dialogue. "Whether it is inner demons or obstacles, they are all artificially created." Zheng Liwen stated that the common ancestors and shared heritage of the two sides cannot be severed. The achievements made by Taiwan and the mainland today are great and successful achievements of the Chinese nation. We should appreciate, respect, and learn from each other, expand existing achievements through exchange and cooperation, and continuously strengthen the peaceful and stable relationship between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.
