On August 22, 2025 at 3:01 am, a major collapse accident occurred at the construction site of the Yinzha Yellow River Bridge on the new Xining to Chengdu railway, undertaken by the Seventh Engineering Limited Company of the China Railway Bridge Bureau. This incident resulted in 13 deaths, 3 missing persons, and a direct economic loss of approximately 48.86 million yuan. Recently, the executive meeting of the Qinghai Provincial Government reviewed and approved the investigation report on the "8.22" major collapse accident at the Yinzha Yellow River Bridge construction project of the Xining-Chengdu railway. The investigation determined that the accident was caused by the construction unit's improper purchase and use of low-quality bolts during the temporary tower construction process, the poor quality of beam production and installation at the top, superficial inspections, and the failure of the diagonal tension rod hanging system, which led to the collapse of part of the bridge structure. The construction, design, supervision, monitoring and other units failed to fulfill their safety responsibilities seriously, and the relevant regulatory authorities did not perform their duties properly, resulting in a major production safety accident.
