In April, some small and medium-sized rivers in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River, Pearl River basin, and Zhejiang-Fujian region may experience floods exceeding the warning level.
Today, it was learned from the Ministry of Emergency Management that the Office of the State Committee for Disaster Reduction and Relief, together with the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the China Meteorological Administration, the National Energy Administration, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and other departments, recently held a consultation meeting to discuss and assess the national natural disaster risk situation in April 2026. The comprehensive analysis indicates that in April, as temperatures rise, heavy rainfall and severe convective weather increase, there is a high risk of localized floods and landslides in the North China, East China, Central China, South China, and Northwest regions. In some small and medium-sized rivers in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, the Pearl River Basin, and the Zhe-Min region, there may be floods exceeding the warning level. Some areas in North China, Northeast China, South China, and Southwest China may experience periods of high forest fire danger levels. In Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Qinghai, the grassland fire danger level is relatively high. There is a high risk of geological disasters in localized areas of North China, East China, Central South China, Southwest China, and Northwest China. There is a risk of drought in localized areas of the Southwest. In some areas of Inner Mongolia and Tibet, there is a risk of episodic low temperature rain, snow, and freezing disasters.
