State Administration of Radio, Film and Television: Over 20,000 AI-altered videos cleared, more than 100 AI-altered accounts with violations dealt with.

To rectify the chaos of "AI modification" video dissemination, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television carried out a one-month special governance work in January 2026, focusing on cleaning up illegal videos that modify classic TV drama works based on the Four Great Classical Novels, historical themes, revolutionary themes, exemplary figures, etc., and simultaneously clearing various evil animated videos. The special governance work has cleared more than 23,000 related illegal videos and dealt with more than 100 illegal accounts, effectively curbing the trend of spreading illegal videos. Starting from February 1st, the governance work on "AI modification" videos will continue through a normalized, institutionalized, and long-term effective mechanism. In response to the characteristics of the production and dissemination of illegal "AI modification" videos, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television supervises major online audio-visual platforms to further deepen the implementation of their responsibilities, improve work processes, strengthen audit capabilities, enhance daily inspections, decisively clear illegal videos, and release governance results monthly for public oversight. As of March 31st, major online audio-visual platforms have cleaned up nearly 29,000 illegal videos and dealt with more than 40 illegal accounts. The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television will closely monitor the development of AI technology, enhance value guidance, strengthen cultural security defenses, continuously purify the online audio-visual ecology, and create a clean and positive environment for radio and television cultural and artistic creation.
