Bank of France: If the Federal Reserve maintains interest rates, the US dollar may fluctuate within a range.
Kit Juckes of France's Crdit Agricole in a report stated that if the Federal Reserve maintains interest rates as expected for the remainder of the year, the US dollar may experience some range-bound volatility. He noted that the market expects all G10 central banks except the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates. Juckes stated that only Sweden is expected to have stronger growth than the United States among G10 economies this year. The tensions in Iran have pushed up safe-haven assets and oil prices, while the expectations of interest rate hikes have limited the appreciation of the US dollar. Juckes mentioned that if the Federal Reserve were to significantly lower interest rates in a scenario of high inflation and loose fiscal policy, the US dollar could decline. The DXY US dollar index fell by 0.1% to 99.908.
