Today, reporters learned from the China Meteorological Administration that the artificial weather modification operation "Spring Moistening" has been initiated. The meteorological department of the country and provinces will work together to carry out regular cross-regional artificial rain enhancement operations in the northwest and north China regions at the appropriate time. It is understood that the current spring agricultural production critical period, the focus of the "Spring Moistening" operation is on rain enhancement to resist drought, ensuring water supply for spring planting, and helping improve and restore the ecological environment. Coordination will be done for both aerial and ground operations in the northwest and north China regions, with plans to deploy 19 artificial rain aircraft. Multiple rounds of continuous joint air-ground operations will be conducted based on the drought conditions and actual precipitation. As of now, the "Spring Moistening" operation has completed 3 joint artificial weather modification operations, covering an area of about 979,300 square kilometers and cumulatively increasing precipitation by about 1.29 billion tons, which has played a positive role in supporting crop growth, improving soil moisture conditions, and reducing forest fire risks. This operation will continue until April 30th. Subsequently, operations such as "Summer Peace," "Autumn Harvest," and "Winter Clear" will focus on defense against severe weather, increasing reservoir storage, and reducing fog in ports in an orderly manner in the southwest, central, and eastern China regions.
