From March 30th to 31st, the Office of Ethical Conduct of the State Administration for Market Regulation conducted surprise inspections using the "four not two straight" approach on the issues of "drugged fish" in the Chongqing Le Bang aquatic product wholesale market and the use of high-concentration hydrogen peroxide for bleaching chicken feet by Zengqiao Food Company in Chongqing, Sichuan Shufu Xiang Food Company, and Chengdu Mingyang Food Company, as exposed by the media. The enforcement team also conducted on-site education and rectification of problems under the "clean and honest enforcement" campaign. The Office of Ethical Conduct of the State Administration for Market Regulation pointed out that market supervision departments in Chongqing and Sichuan must focus on the issues, strictly investigate illegal business activities based on media exposure, implement "dual investigation" in each case, thoroughly investigate outstanding issues in supervision and enforcement, and, upon confirmation of dereliction of duty by individual public officials, take strict legal and regulatory actions. The Office of Ethical Conduct participated in the "why enforce, for whom enforce" learning and discussion activities organized by local market supervision departments in Hechuan District of Chongqing and Qionglai City of Sichuan, where they discussed and reflected on recent typical cases, identified their own issues, and improved their understanding of the purpose and stance of law enforcement.
