The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued a winter wheat smut risk warning on April 7, 2026.

Currently, most of the winter wheat in the Yangtze River Basin is in the flowering stage, which is a critical period for preventing and controlling wheat scab disease. It is expected that from April 8th to 13th, there will be cloudy and rainy weather in most parts of the Sichuan Basin, most parts of Hubei, southern Anhui, southern Jiangsu, northern Zhejiang, Shanghai, etc., with a high risk of wheat scab disease occurrence. It is recommended that all regions take advantage of the rainfall intervals during flowering to spray pesticides and take proactive preventive measures.
