The world's highest-altitude trough-type concentrating solar power station has started construction in Tibet.

On April 6th, the world's highest-altitude trough-style concentrated solar power plant, the 50-megawatt Umatang Solar Thermal Power Project developed by China General Nuclear Power Corporation, officially started construction in Umatang Township, Dangxiong County, Lhasa. Located at an altitude of 4550 meters, the project simultaneously realized the first commercial application of the 8.6-meter large-aperture trough collector with completely independent intellectual property rights in China, and equipped with a 6-hour molten salt thermal storage device, it can achieve continuous power generation at night and flexible peak shaving.
