Anthropic charges additional fees to subscribing users, effectively preventing OpenClaw from accessing Claude.
Due to the new policy adjustment by Anthropic, the cost of using OpenClaw on ClaudeAI will significantly increase. According to an email sent to users on Friday evening, starting from 3pm Eastern Time on April 4th, users "will no longer be able to use Claude subscription quotas to run third-party integrated tools, including OpenClaw". If users still want to use OpenClaw on Claude, they must choose a pay-as-you-go plan, and the related fees will be billed separately from the Claude subscription fee. Currently, the developer of OpenClaw, Peter Steinberg, has joined OpenAI, and Anthropic's move may be aimed at encouraging subscription users to use more of their own tools, such as ClaudeCowork. Steinberg stated that he and Dave Morin, a member of the OpenClaw board, "tried their best to persuade Anthropic to reconsider the decision, but only managed to delay the policy implementation by one week." Anthropic has not responded yet.
