Argentine President Mila reiterated on April 2nd local time the sovereignty over the Falkland Islands and disputed areas, and pledged to increase the salaries of the armed forces. Mila reaffirmed sovereignty over the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Islands, South Sandwich Islands, and their surrounding waters during activities commemorating the Falklands War, while also promising to raise the salaries of the armed forces and strengthen defense and military capabilities. He also called for bilateral negotiations with the UK to peacefully resolve the sovereignty dispute through dialogue. Argentina and the UK have long disputed the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands. Argentina has never abandoned its claim to sovereignty over the Falkland Islands since its defeat in the war, while the UK has refused to negotiate with Argentina on the issue of sovereignty over the Falkland Islands.
