The investigation report on the fire incident that caused the death of three people in a ship under construction in Yangzhou has been released: Illegal welding led to the accident.

According to the investigation report of the "85" major fire accident issued by the Yizheng Economic Development Zone Investment Promotion Bureau Jinling Shipyard Co., Ltd. of Yangzhou Emergency Management Bureau on April 1, 2025, on August 5, 2025, a fire accident occurred at Jinling Shipyard Co., Ltd. of the Yizheng Economic Development Zone Investment Promotion Bureau, resulting in 3 deaths, with a direct economic loss of approximately 8.96 million yuan. Investigation determined that the accident was caused by an outsourcing unit conducting illegal hot work without approval, the production and operation unit not fully identifying the safety risks at the work site, inadequate coordination and management of safety production work, and lax safety supervision by industry departments and local safety management, resulting in a major production safety liability accident.
