Journalists learned from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transportation that during the Qingming holiday in 2026, small passenger cars with seven seats or less will be exempt from tolls. It is expected that the flow of vehicles on highways during this year's Qingming holiday will tend to be stable, mainly for short-distance trips such as tomb sweeping and outings. The overall travel volume in the province will increase significantly, with traffic pressure mainly concentrated in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, where small passenger cars account for a higher proportion. It is estimated that the average daily traffic volume during this year's Qingming holiday will be about 9.53 million vehicles, an increase of about 12.75% compared to the previous year. Among them, the daily traffic volume on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is about 27,000 vehicles, an increase of 13.71% year-on-year; the daily traffic volume on the Humen Bridge is about 136,400 vehicles, a decrease of 1.45% year-on-year; the daily traffic volume on the Nansha Bridge is about 184,800 vehicles, an increase of 5.54% year-on-year; the daily traffic volume on the Huangpu Bridge is about 189,800 vehicles, an increase of 5.44% year-on-year; and the daily traffic volume on the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Tunnel is about 174,400 vehicles, an increase of 4.71% year-on-year. It is expected that travel demand will be concentrated on the day before the holiday, and the last day of the holiday will see a peak in return trips.
