Four people died in an explosion at an under-construction highway tunnel in Chongqing.

Sina Finance reported on March 31 that, according to the Transportation Committee of Wanzhou District in Chongqing, at around 15:10 on March 30, a suspected flammable gas explosion occurred in the left tunnel of Tianfengshan Tunnel in the Wanzhou to Kaijiang section of the Enshi-Guangyuan National Highway, which is invested by Chongqing Wankaida Expressway Co., Ltd. and constructed by China Railway 12th Bureau Group Co., Ltd., causing one person missing and 12 injured at the scene. After the accident, relevant units quickly carried out emergency rescue and treatment work. As of midnight on March 31, the missing person has been found and confirmed to have no signs of life, and 3 people were sent to the hospital and died after failed rescue efforts.
