More than 40 endangered species have been listed by the United Nations as protected migratory animals.
On March 30, Sina Finance reported that on March 29, at the closing of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals in Brazil, the parties signed a treaty aimed at protecting more than 40 increasingly endangered migratory species. Among them is the snowy owl, the prototype of the owl "Hedwig" in the movie "Harry Potter". The treaty pointed out that the global population of snowy owls has decreased by one third in the past thirty years, with climate change and excessive environmental development being the main reasons for the decline in their population. Currently, the snowy owl is a second-level key protected wild animal in China and is listed as "Vulnerable" in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
