Ministry of Ecology and Environment: AI and other digital technologies empower over 90 ecological environment projects.
On March 30th, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment held its routine press conference for March. Wang Zhibin, the Director of Science and Finance at the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, stated that in recent years, they have actively utilized digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing as important tools to improve the modernization level of the ecological environment governance system and governance capability. With the support of national key science and technology projects, over 90 projects have been deployed, including high-throughput automation intelligent monitoring technology. In terms of monitoring, artificial intelligence technology has gradually been integrated into ecological environment monitoring and has achieved operational application, such as shifting biodiversity identification from annual monitoring to continuous monitoring throughout the year. In terms of regulation, the application of artificial intelligence technology has greatly enhanced the capability of non-site law enforcement, with the accuracy of identifying fraudulent behavior in mobile vehicle inspection results and heavy-duty vehicle emissions violations exceeding 70% using large-scale intelligent recognition technology, significantly saving material and manpower costs. In the next step, they will continue to increase support for the development of artificial intelligence related technologies in the field of ecological environment, fully unleashing the application efficiency of "artificial intelligence +" in the ecological environment.
