According to CBS, the Democratic chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Jim Himes, accused Trump of making "outright lies" about negotiations with Iran last week amidst market turmoil and ongoing war. Himes said, "Last Sunday he realized there was a serious financial crisis in the market, so he made up that story." Himes added, "Iranians now realize they have the upper hand. Gasoline prices have risen by over $1 per gallon. They realize, 'Oh my, we have a huge bargaining chip in our hands.'"
