Against the backdrop of the global energy crisis and soaring fuel prices, Egyptian Prime Minister Madbouly announced on the 28th local time that the country will take multiple energy-saving measures to cope with the impact. Egypt will slow down the implementation progress of large national projects involving high gasoline and diesel consumption for at least two months, while reducing the fuel allocation for all government vehicles by 30%. Madbouly also stated that, apart from the service and manufacturing sectors, both public and private sectors in Egypt will implement remote work on every Sunday in April, which is the first working day of the week. Due to Egypt's high energy dependence on imports, the government had previously raised fuel prices and public transportation fares to address fluctuations in the global energy market. (CCTV Finance)
