Two major aluminum plants in the Middle East were attacked, potentially affecting the global supply chain.
The Gulf countries of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates have recently confirmed that two large aluminum plants within their territories were attacked by Iranian forces. The attacks resulted in injuries and property damage. Aluminum products exported from the Middle East account for about 10% of global supply, and this may have a certain impact on the market. Bahrain Aluminum Company said on the 29th that its factory was attacked by Iranian forces on the 28th, injuring two people, and the company is assessing the property damage. The company and its parent company had previously declared a "force majeure" due to disruptions in shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, reducing production by about 20%. Also on the 28th, Emirates Global Aluminum, one of the world's largest aluminum producers, confirmed that it was also attacked by Iranian forces. A factory in the industrial zone of Abu Dhabi suffered major losses, with multiple Indian and Pakistani workers injured.
