Saudi industry professionals are sending signals of cooperation to Chinese companies in Zhongguancun.

Samir S. Sheriri, Vice President of Industry Clusters Empowerment at the former National Industrial Development Center of Saudi Arabia and current CEO of the Industrial Base Company, said at the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Meeting on the 29th that the cooperative proposal of the "Belt and Road" initiative put forward by China and Saudi Arabia's "2030 Vision" are not only parallel strategies, but also complement each other perfectly. Regarding the investment opportunities of Chinese companies in Saudi Arabia, Sheriri focused on three major strategic areas. In the fields of advanced manufacturing and new energy vehicles, he mentioned that Saudi Arabia is building a global mobility industry ecosystem, and China's advantage in the electric vehicle supply chain perfectly meets Saudi Arabia's needs for localized production and industrial ecosystem development. In the fields of digital economy and artificial intelligence, he pointed out that Saudi Arabia is transitioning from pilot projects to the practical application of artificial intelligence, heavily investing in smart cities and cloud infrastructure. "Beijing, Hangzhou, and other Chinese cities are world leaders in these fields, offering huge opportunities for cooperation." In the fields of healthcare, biotechnology, and genomics, Sheriri explained that Saudi Arabia's Genomic Plan is mapping out the national genetic blueprint to achieve personalized diagnosis and treatment. China's world-class expertise in genetic sequencing, gene therapy, and biomanufacturing offers broad cooperation opportunities for both sides in research collaboration, diagnostic technology, and localized gene therapy.
