According to the Nikkei News, American electric car manufacturer Tesla (TSLA.O) plans to double the number of its directly operated service centers in Japan to over 30 this year, aiming to improve after-sales service levels and expand market share. Currently, Tesla has 14 service centers in the country, mainly located in major cities. These service centers are equipped with equipment for car inspections, maintenance, and repairs (including body repairs). Many new service centers will be established near Tesla dealerships. The company will utilize existing facilities previously used as maintenance workshops to expand the service center network quickly and at a lower cost. In areas without directly operated service centers, Tesla collaborates with local car repair shops to provide customers with over 50 vehicle maintenance service points.
