The largest metal production facility owned by UAE's Emirates Global Aluminium was "seriously damaged" in missile and drone attacks in Iran, causing a new impact on the region's commodities industry. Emirates Global Aluminium is the largest aluminum producer in the Middle East and a major supplier in the global market. With the actual blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, energy and metal producers in the Persian Gulf region can no longer supply the global market, and such attacks are likely to further delay the time needed for production operations to return to normal after the war. The company said in a statement that it is still assessing the damage to its Taweelah plant in the industrial zone of Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi. The company confirmed that several employees were injured in the attack, but refused to disclose whether the facility's operations have been suspended.
