Export Blocked Iraqi Southern Oilfield Production Plunges in Eighty Percent
An official from the Iraqi energy department said on the 25th that due to the factual blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, Iraq is unable to export crude oil through the strait. As a result of limited storage space, the country has had to reduce oil production, leading to an 80% drop in output from the main oil fields in the south. Reuters quoted three officials from the Iraqi energy department as saying that production from the main oil fields in the south of Iraq has decreased by about 80%, to an average of about 800,000 barrels per day. Before the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran, these oil fields were producing around 4.3 million barrels per day. Earlier this month, industry sources revealed that production from these oil fields had dropped by about 70%, to an average of approximately 1.3 million barrels per day.
