Utah becomes the first state in the United States to pass a Climate Action Plan.
The state of Utah has enacted a law that protects companies from being held liable for damages related to greenhouse gas emissions. The law shields individuals in the state from criminal or civil liability for damages related to climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions, unless the individual has violated specific restrictions or permit requirements. The initiator of the law, state representative Carl Albrecht, stated that his goal is to prevent environmental organizations from initiating "frivolous" legal challenges.
