When asked about the measures taken by the federal government to address the current rise in fuel prices in Germany, Merkel said that the government cannot offset all price fluctuations through taxes and the federal budget. She stated that the best way to bring prices back to a manageable range is to end the conflict in Iran. Merkel emphasized that ending the US-Israel-Iran conflict requires willingness from all parties. Germany is willing to contribute to long-term stability in the region after the conflict ends, but the conflict must end and German action must receive international authorization, including from the United Nations, and approval from the Bundestag.
