The German Chancellor said that Europe is urging the United States to end the war with Iran.
German Chancellor Merkel said on the 25th that Germany is closely coordinating with European countries to urge the United States and Israel to seek a diplomatic solution and end the current military actions against Iran. Merkel stated during questioning in the German Bundestag on that day that shortly after the US-Israel-Iran conflict broke out, she discussed related issues with US President Trump in Washington and expressed concerns. On the 22nd, she had another long conversation with Trump, pointing out the risks that the conflict poses to the global economy. When asked about the measures taken by the federal government to address the current rise in fuel prices in Germany, Merkel said that the government cannot offset all price fluctuations through taxes and the federal budget. She stated that the best way to bring prices back to a manageable range is to end the conflict in Iran. Merkel emphasized that ending the US-Israel-Iran conflict requires willingness from all parties. Germany is willing to contribute to long-term stability in the region after the conflict ends, but the conflict must end and German action must receive international authorization, including from the United Nations, and approval from the Bundestag.
