High oil prices are dragging down the aviation industry. United Airlines warns that ticket prices may have to increase by 20%.
CEO of United Airlines Holdings, Inc., Scott Kirby, said that if aviation fuel prices remain high in the long term, ticket prices may have to increase by 20%. Kirby said on Tuesday that if ticket prices continue to rise, the airline expects some level of consumer resistance and a decrease in the number of travelers. Kirby also stated that United Airlines has already reduced capacity by 5% on routes that are not profitable or cannot cover the increased cost of fuel. However, Kirby said that demand is still very strong at the moment.
