According to the news from the Russian Atomic Energy Group, the construction site for the future nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan has already begun the first batch of concrete pouring. In May 2024, the first ever export contract for atomic energy was signed in Tashkent, which stipulates the construction of a small nuclear power plant in the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan. The Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation will be the general contractor for the construction of the nuclear power plant. The construction project includes two units with RITM-200N small reactors, each with a power of 55 megawatts, as well as two high-power units with 3+ generation VVER-1000 reactors.
