China Passenger Car Association: The installed capacity of new energy vehicle power batteries in February decreased by 19.2% year-on-year.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released the February 2026 report on the insights of the three-electric system for new energy vehicles. In February 2026, the installed capacity of power batteries for new energy vehicles was 27.3 GWh, a year-on-year decrease of 19.2%. The cumulative year-on-year growth rate of power battery market in January and February reached 37.4%. With the continuous increase of new energy vehicle sales, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles continues to grow, driving the continuous growth of power battery installed capacity. The average electricity consumption per new energy vehicle in January and February 2026 was 62.0 kWh, a year-on-year increase of 29.2%. Among them, Xiaomi, BYD, and Tesla have become the main contributors to the installed capacity of power batteries. In terms of battery cell materials, the proportion of lithium iron phosphate remains high. Lithium iron phosphate batteries, with comprehensive advantages in cost, safety, and performance, as well as driving forces such as policies, markets, and energy storage, the market share in the new energy vehicle market continues to rise.
