On March 24, the main contract for lithium carbonate rose by 7.10% in intraday trading, reaching 15,440 yuan/ton. On the news front, Zimbabwe's lithium export ban has been in place for nearly a month with no signs of being lifted, potentially extending beyond market expectations. Market insiders had previously estimated that the impact of the adjustment in Zimbabwe's export policy on the market would last for about a month. According to a Chinese company with lithium resources in Zimbabwe, local mines and lithium salt enterprises are still operating normally, but the export of lithium concentrate remains suspended, without further details on the export ban. It is still unclear when exports will resume, as all parties are currently engaged in active communication. The company currently still holds inventory. It is worth mentioning that even if Zimbabwe's lithium exports were to resume in the future, it would take almost two months for the lithium concentrate to be transported back to China from Zimbabwe.
