An insider: Valero Corporation has closed down the Arthur Port Refinery in Texas after the explosion.

Valero Energy Corp. familiar with refinery operations said that on Monday evening, its 380,000 barrels per day Port Arthur refinery in Texas was immediately shut down after an explosion and fire in the diesel hydrotreater unit. Sources said that on Monday evening, the 24,300 barrels per day diesel hydrotreater unit located in eastern Texas near the border with Louisiana exploded, shaking the area, with the explosion being heard as far as 11 miles away.
