On March 23, Liu Liehong, Director of the National Bureau of Statistics, stated at the China Development High-level Forum 2026 annual meeting that the National Bureau of Statistics will define its data work in 2026 as the "Year of Data Value Release". It will focus on empowering artificial intelligence innovation with data, and will deeply implement six major actions: strengthening infrastructure capacity expansion, tackling labeling challenges, improving quality and efficiency, empowering applications, managing services, and releasing value. The goal is to create a number of high-quality data sets that better meet the requirements of artificial intelligence readiness, effectively train advanced models or intelligent bodies, truly solve industry challenges, and achieve an increase in quantity and quality of supply. This will enable artificial intelligence to penetrate various industries and accelerate the deep integration of artificial intelligence and the real economy.
