On March 22nd, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with Kurt Bock, Chairman of the Executive Board of BASF Group. The two sides exchanged views on China-Europe economic and trade relations, as well as the business development of BASF Group in China. Wang Wentao pointed out that China attaches great importance to economic and trade cooperation with Germany and Europe. Currently, unilateralism and protectionism are impacting the international economic and trade order. China and Europe should strengthen dialogue and communication, firmly maintain free trade, and enhance the certainty of China-Europe economic and trade relations by upholding the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization at its core. Wang Wentao stated that over the past 40 years, BASF Group's investment and development in China have achieved mutual success and growth, realizing win-win cooperation. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China will firmly expand high-level opening up, leading high-quality development with technological innovation and new productive forces, and creating a larger incremental market. Foreign companies such as BASF are welcomed to continue investing in China, playing a good role as a bridge and link to help China and Germany, as well as China and Europe, expand emerging industry markets and jointly expand the economic and trade cooperation cake.
