In the Laotian parliamentary elections, Thongloun was elected as the President of the country.

The first session of the 10th National Assembly of Laos was held on March 23 in the capital Vientiane, during which Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, was elected as President of the country.
