Li Dongsheng: Chinese enterprises should shift from "exporting products" to "co-building industrial capabilities" in order to achieve globalization.
On March 22, the China Development High-level Forum 2026 Annual Meeting was held in Beijing. TCL founder and Chairman Li Dongsheng made a speech at the "Technology Innovation and Future Industrial Development Seminar". Li Dongsheng believes that emerging pillar industries such as integrated circuits, new displays, new energy, and new materials generally exhibit high technology, heavy asset, and long-term development characteristics. To develop these industries well, on the one hand, companies need to increase investment in basic research, and on the other hand, the country needs to encourage the capital market to cultivate long-term capital. He believes that China's advanced manufacturing industry is currently in a stage of capital accumulation, and direct financing, especially equity financing, is the main channel for forming long-term capital. Therefore, he suggested that regulatory agencies should relax financing approval restrictions for the advanced manufacturing industry, making it easier for leading enterprises to raise capital through the capital market, industrial mergers and acquisitions, etc., forming a virtuous cycle of mutual promotion between technological breakthroughs and capital returns.
