Investigation into "Russiagate" prosecutor's death angers many, Trump says "very pleased"
Former FBI director and special prosecutor Robert Mueller, who led the investigation into "Russiagate," passed away on the 20th. President Trump posted a "celebratory" message on the 21st, triggering criticism in the United States. After the news of Mueller's death was announced, Trump immediately posted on the social media platform "Truthful Social" saying, "Good, I'm glad he's dead. He can no longer harm innocent people!" Trump and Mueller have long-standing grievances. In 2017, special prosecutor Mueller, appointed by the US Department of Justice, took over the investigation into whether Trump and his campaign team were involved in "Russia collusion." After nearly two years of investigation, Mueller determined that there was no evidence of criminal conspiracy between the Trump team and Russia. However, according to US media reports, a total of 34 people were eventually indicted, including six former Trump advisors. Trump has always believed that the investigation was a "hoax." In response to Trump's remarks, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, said, "Trump's goal is to distract attention from rising oil prices, reckless wars, immigration and Customs enforcement abuses, and the Epstein case." Democratic Representative Seth Moulton from Massachusetts said, "Whether you support Trump or not, you know that this kind of rhetoric is disgusting."
