At a BYD car dealership in the financial district of Manila, Philippines, demand for electric cars produced by Chinese companies is very high. Salesperson Poh mentioned that the number of orders in the past two weeks has already matched the level of orders typically seen in a month. Poh added that, "Due to the increase in oil prices, customers are switching to electric cars from fuel cars." In a VinFast showroom in Hanoi, Vietnam, the number of customer visits has quadrupled, leading the store to hire additional sales staff. In the three weeks since the outbreak of the war in Iran, the showroom has already sold 250 electric cars. This means that the weekly sales volume exceeds 80 cars, which is twice the average sales volume expected in 2025. The chief economist of the Asian Development Bank, Albert Park, stated that the rise in oil prices is creating economic momentum and accelerating the transition to electric cars.
