On March 20, the CEO of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation commented on the rising energy prices in Europe, stating that due to the presence of nuclear power plants, electricity prices in Russia are lower than in Europe. He also mentioned that there is no risk of uranium supply shortage for Russia and its partners. He pointed out that events in the Middle East in February and March limited natural gas supply to Europe, leading to price shocks in the European electricity wholesale market. The Russian electricity wholesale market operates in a completely different way, with nuclear power acting as a stabilizer of prices. Thanks to the existence of nuclear power plants in Russia, electricity prices, especially in the first price zone, are significantly lower than in Europe. The two cannot be compared.
